Infectious Diseases/HIV Care

About

After completing medical training at the University of Colorado, Dr. Joyner moved to Florida to fulfill his National Health Service Corp contract providing care for HIV-infected immigrants and indigent patients.  He then returned to Colorado to work at Denver Public Health in the clinical areas of HIV, tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases.  These many years of public health service cemented his interest in infectious diseases and HIV care, which eventually led to a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).  After fellowship, he stayed on as faculty at UCI for several years until his then-girlfriend (now-wife) wanted to return to her home in Hawaii.  Since 2007, Dr. Joyner has lived in Hawaii working as an infectious diseases consultant at the Queenʻs Medical Center and Castle Medical Center.  He maintains his long-standing interest in HIV care and PrEP for those at risk of acquiring HIV.  He is a member of both AAHIVM (HIV specialist) and HIVMA.
